immune systemTo follow our previous post I decided to talk a bit about immune system and its role in human health and fitness.

Immunity can be fairly called a bodyguard. It’s invisible to us, but a lot in our life depends on how good it works.

There are two types of immunity: specific and non-specific. Specific is the one we get at birth (it is based on what genes we get from each of our parents). Non-specific is the one we get during our life (as a reaction to different infections in order to resist them even when they mutate).

Besides our immune system is able to produce such substances that are capable to resist all kinds of viruses whether it’s flue, measles, or chickenpox. One of these substances is interferon. It’s a special protein which our immune system produces in reaction to increase of body temperature. Strong immune system when meets with a virus will provide enough of interferon to defeat cold (with its cough, rhinitis, and head ache) in a couple of days. So, when the temperature goes up (but not critically) don’t take antipyretic because it will not allow your immune system resist the virus.
